Anxiety
Do you find yourself feeling tense and on edge? Is your mind constantly racing and you struggle to feel settled? You may find that even when things are going well, you’re still waiting for the other shoe to drop. While for some, anxiety results in chronic worrying and tension, others experience panic attacks or anxiety in social situations- feeling as though they are always waiting for embarrassment and judgment to come. For most, anxiety starts to limit life... from struggling to enjoy daily activities, to avoiding opportunities, to feeling so stuck in your head that it is a struggle to show up for yourself and others in the way that you want. Therapy can help understand the root of what’s driving your anxiety, and approach these parts of yourself compassionately. With the help of therapeutic tools, you can learn to free yourself from the exhausting wrestling match with anxiety so that you can be more present and peaceful in your life.
Perfectionism
Perhaps you find yourself in a pattern of unrelenting standards- one that often results in feelings of failure if you aren’t perfect. You may feel constant internal pressure to strive and achieve, only to feel disappointed when the achievements don’t result in lasting happiness or worthiness... all the while the inner critic screams louder. Perhaps you’re exhausted from the excessive time spent swinging from procrastinating to overanalyzing and engaging in people pleasing. Underneath it all, you may struggle to shake feelings of failure and chronic discontentment. While the perfectionism may have “worked” in helping you to achieve, there’s a part of you that knows it’s not working for your long-term happiness. Therapy can help you break free through healing underlying wounds and conditional worthiness and develop the skills to be present and content in your life as you are.
Chronic Dieting & Body Image
You may have been on a diet for as long as you can remember. With each new diet, you might feel a rush of hope that this time will be different....only to be flooded with feelings of failure when the weight doesn’t come off or returns. You may dream of the day that you can feel at peace with food and your body, but find that your thoughts become more consumed with and resentful towards food and your body with each new diet. You might feel a growing sense of shame with your body, and blame yourself for failing to control your eating and weight. This shame may lead to hiding away, where you find yourself disconnected from what is meaningful in life. You know that there is more to life, but struggle to find a way off of the never-ending rollercoaster. Therapy can offer a new path- one to increased peace and freedom with food and your body, without a diet. One that allows you to reconnect with your body and learn to trust and respect its needs.
Binge, Compulsive, & Emotional Eating
Do you find yourself feeling out of control with food? You may have tried many things to control your relationship to food, from dieting to limiting foods from the home, only to find that your thoughts became more consumed with food and binge eating returned. You may find that you eat until uncomfortably full, or reach towards food as a way to distract from painful feelings. Perhaps this has led to shame around eating, and you notice yourself hiding eating from others. You may feel exhausted from the energy spent trying to manage your relationship with food and feel that food has started to control your life. Therapy can help find peace with food, for good. Treatment can help you learn the tools to nourish yourself in healing ways and to make food your friend, not enemy.
